Direct Cusco to Sao Paulo Flights Launch in March 2027

The Imperial City will welcome its first direct air route to Brazil next year. Latam Airlines confirmed that direct Cusco to Sao Paulo flights will officially begin operations in March 2027. This non-stop service will connect southern Peru with South America’s largest travel market. It eliminates the standard layover in Lima, saving valuable transit time for international visitors.

Projected Tourism Impact and Brazilian Influx

The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) projects that the route will transport at least 48,000 passengers during its initial phase. Latam leaders project even stronger performance. Manuel Van Oordt, CEO of Latam Peru, told reporters the new flights could draw between 60,000 and 70,000 Brazilian travelers each year. The airline plans to expand toward daily flights if early bookings remain robust.

Brazilian visitors represented 7% of international arrivals in Cusco during 2025, ranking as the region’s third-largest tourist source. More than 200,000 Brazilian nationals traveled to Peru over the past year. Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Rogers Valencia emphasized that Brazil’s population of 220 million presents prime expansion potential for Peruvian heritage destinations.

Flight Schedules and Cusco Aviation Hub Expansion

The non-stop journey between Cusco and São Paulo will last approximately four hours and ten minutes. Latam scheduled four weekly frequencies on this corridor:

• Cusco to São Paulo: Departs Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 11:30 p.m., landing at Guarulhos at 5:40 a.m. the next morning.
• São Paulo to Cusco: Departs Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 7:40 a.m., touching down in Cusco at 10:45 a.m.

Cusco stands as the only Peruvian destination outside Lima offering direct international flights. The city maintains active links to Colombia, Chile, and Bolivia. Latam also plans to increase its Santiago de Chile service from 7 to 10 weekly flights. Sky Airline will enter that route soon, lifting Santiago-Cusco operations to 17 weekly flights during 2027.

Meanwhile, transport officials are finalizing a domestic Cusco-Chiclayo route. That strategic corridor will link northern and southern Peru ahead of the scheduled visit of Pope Leo XIV this November.
