Lima will host The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2026 at the beginning of November 2026. This historic selection marks the first time the global culinary ranking takes place in Peru and South America. Consequently, the achievement highlights the continuous work of Mincetur and PROMPERÚ to advance the sector. Previously, Lima held the Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants events in 2013 and 2014. Since then, national culinary prestige has expanded globally. For instance, the Peruvian restaurant Maido won the title of World’s Best Restaurant in 2025. Additionally, Central secured that same top position in 2023. Therefore, this international event solidifies Peru gastronomy tourism on a global scale.

The main official awards ceremony is scheduled for November 4, 2026. Furthermore, a comprehensive schedule of public activities will accompany the celebration. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the local culinary scene through various interactive events. For example, the schedule includes the #50BestTalks leadership forum. Another feature is the 50 Best Signature Sessions, which offer collaborative dinners between international chefs and local culinary talents. Additionally, the Chefs’ Feast will showcase traditional ingredients, native products, and regional cooking techniques. International guests will also participate in organized tours to experience diverse dining options. According to officials, hosting this prestigious meeting serves as a strategic asset for international promotion.

Economic Impact and Value of Peru Gastronomy Tourism

The upcoming summit will attract prominent opinion leaders, chefs, specialized media, and international travelers. According to official statistical reports, culinary motivation represents the third most important factor for vacationers arriving by air. Specifically, millennial and Generation X travelers form the core of this segment. These visitors view the local food scene as authentic and traditional. In addition, they value the high-quality organic ingredients and unique cultural fusions. Beyond reputation, hosting the ceremony provides an immediate financial stimulus to the local economy during the event week.

Past editions of the 50 Best events demonstrate significant global economic and promotional impacts. For instance, during the North America event in Las Vegas, 92% of guests used local lodging, generating over USD 750,000 in hotel revenue. Similarly, the Rio de Janeiro edition achieved an equivalent advertising value of USD 40.8 million. The Seoul event generated 82 million digital interactions and 4.1 million video views. Finally, the Abu Dhabi event reached a total media audience of 6 billion people. Therefore, the upcoming assembly in Lima will provide substantial media exposure and commercial growth. These proven metrics confirm that Peru gastronomy tourism remains a primary driver for sustainable economic development.
