Itinerary

Day 1Cusco – Rocoto at the Apurimac River

We will pick up you at 8:30 am. From your hotel in Cusco. From Cusco we will head to Inca bridge of Huajachaca (Apurimac river), used by the pre-Incas and Incas to exchange goods between the coast of the Pacific Ocean and Cusco. Lunch will be served on the river’s shore. At this point we will meet the other part of the crew, our river rafting guides and all the equipment and gear to continue with our river expedition. After lunch our river rafting guides will provide us with our river equipment and will give us a safety briefing before getting to the class 2-3 rapids of this fantastic river. We will start to paddle and find bases of old bridges used for centuries by Incas until now. Dinner will be served at the campsite around the campfire. Full meals included.

Day 2Santo Tomas River / Condores Rapids at the Black Canyon

After a healthy breakfast we will walk around the campsite to admire the vegetation such as bromeliads and orchids. In the morning we will have some easy rapids and admire some waterfalls and also have the chance to explore a little creek. Then, after floating through a stretch of calm water and black rock canyon walls for about 2 to 3 hours we will continue through a tributary called Santo Tomas River and its amazing limestone canyon. After lunch, we will raft some more class 3 rapids and have the chance of seeing river otters, some deer, cormorants, torrent ducks and other tropical Andean birds. Will have lunch at a sandy beach. In the afternoon we will pass many old suspended bridges along the river and have another set of rapids called “3 Condors”, before setting up camp on a nice sandy beach.
Full meals included.

Day 3“The Other Right” Rapids – Hualpachaca Bridge – Cusco

After breakfast, we will run the most intense sets of class III to IV pool-drop rapids, with names such as “The other right” and “Wave Train”. There will also be time to explore a couple of waterfall creeks. We will have lunch at the end of our adventure, followed by a four-hour drive to Cusco in our private vehicle. We will drop you off at your hotel at the end of the trip. (Breakfast, Lunch).
