Puerto Maldonado is the gateway to Tambopata. On arrival, our representative will meet you and transfer you to Capitania Port.

The third day of your Machu Picchu Vacation Package is also your first full day in the Amazon Rainforest. After relishing a native breakfast, we will begin the tour.

We will embark on our wooden boat for a ride along the Amazon River to the entrance of Lake Sandoval. From the pier, it is a 8 Kilometers (4.9 miles) hike to the lake. Along the way, you will spot white otters, caymans, squirrel monkeys among other wild animals and mammals.

Lake Sandoval is considered to be one of the prominent lakes in the Amazon Rainforest, primarily because of its ecosystem.

Our local expert will be explaining the life of each animal and mammals you will be spotting in Lake Sandoval.

Once you have enjoyed the visit, we will return to the lodge for lunch. You will have the evening free to yourself. You can enjoy the sunset from the lodge or simply relax and soak in the Amazon vibes.

We will begin the day quite early in the morning. After relishing a typical Amazonian breakfast, we will embark on a short hike. The day’s itinerary is designed to offer you an authentic and unique Amazon Experience.

Our experience begins with a canopy tour. A 30 meters high suspension bridge offers staggering views of the jungle. During the walk, you will be spotting different bird species including Woodpeckers and Macaws.

Day 5Tambopata - Cusco - Sacred Valley of the Incas

The fifth day of the Machu Picchu Vacation Package marks our last day in the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest. After relishing an Amazonian breakfast, we will check out from our lodge and embark on a 45 minutes boat ride back to Puerto Maldonado.

We will transfer you to the airport from the boat pier. You will board the 12 noon direct flight to Cusco city.

Our team will welcome you to our hub, Cusco. We will be driving you to an Alpaca farm where you will see the way these Andean animals are bred by locals.

We will then visit an Andean Textile Industry where you will witness how locals extract wool from Alpacas, dye them and knit them to produce sweaters and more.

After this experience, we will be driving you to a viewpoint from where you will have the opportunity to witness the stunning beauty of the valley.

We will then drive you to a local restaurant for a traditional Andean lunch. Most restaurant owners in the Sacred Valley also own farmlands. So you can expect a farm fresh meal to be served.

After lunch, we will drive you to the administrative capital of the Incas, Ollantaytambo where we will be accommodating you for the night.

Day 6Sacred Valley of the Incas (Ollantaytambo - Pisac)

You will be waking up to a traditional Andean breakfast. After breakfast, we will give you an immersive tour of the archaeological complex of Ollantaytambo.

This is the former administrative capital of the Incas. The town nestles amidst two peaks, each home to the remains of Inca fortresses. We will be touring the main fortress which also houses the remains of an Inca temple.

This site was sacred to the Incas. When the Spanish conquistadors intended to invade the town in 1537, this holy place turned into a deadly battleground.

After an immersive tour of Ollantaytambo, we will drive you to Pisac. Along the way, we will be stopping Hacienda Sara Pampa for lunch. Your “Farm to Table” lunch in this family owned restaurant will introduce local flavors.

After lunch, you will have some time to walk around the property and see how they produce the finest White Corn of Cusco.

We will drive you then to Pisac. Home to a traditional handicraft market and arguably the second largest Inca ruin after Machu Picchu, Pisac offers an excellent introduction to life in the valley.

We will begin with a tour of the Inca ruin here. Our local expert will be sharing some interesting facts about the remains of this massive Inca fortress.

After the tour, we will be driving you down to the main square of Pisac. There is a traditional market here which is a must visit. Craftsmen and women from neighboring villages gather here to sell their products. This is an ideal place to buy some souvenirs.

After some shopping, we will drive you back to your hotel in Ollantaytambo.

Day 7Machu Picchu Tour

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will drive you to the train station in Ollantaytambo. Here you will be boarding a train to Aguas Calientes, gateway to Machu Picchu.

The three hour’s train ride offers staggering views of the snow capped peaks as it would snake through the highland villages and farmlands.

You will witness a change in weather as we get closer to Aguas Calientes as it is located in the tropical region.

Once in Aguas Calientes, we will transfer you to your hotel in the city. After checking in, we will take a 30 minute bus ride, up the hill to the entrance of Machu Picchu citadel.

Before entering the citadel, we will serve you a buffet lunch at one of the best and prestigious restaurants in Machu Picchu.

After lunch, we will enter the citadel for a detailed tour of the Inca sites here.

We will begin with a brief introduction of the prominence of the citadel to the Incas. We will then visit the prime sites of Machu Picchu like the remains of the main plaza, farm lands, Inca temples and more.

After the tour you will have some time to relax and soak in the views of the Inca citadel.

Once you have enjoyed it, we will take the bus back to Machu Picchu town and will transfer you back to your hotel for the night.

Day 8Machu Picchu to Cusco

Early in the morning, if desired, you can visit Machu Picchu once again.

However, we recommend visiting early in the morning to witness the golden rays of the rising sun beaming on the Inca walls as the blanket of clouds would unveil the Inca citadel.

You can also hike to Huayna Picchu peak to get a panoramic view of the citadel. Please note that the hike up to Huayna Picchu is quite challenging.

Also, just like hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, you will need a permit to hike to Huayna Picchu which is sold out months in advance. So please let us know at the time of booking the tour, if you wish to hike Huayna Picchu.

Once you have had your fill of the Inca citadel, we will take the bus back down to Machu Picchu town. We will be serving lunch at one of the finest restaurants in Aguas Calientes.

After lunch, you will have some free time to saunter the cobble stoned streets of Aguas Calientes. You can also visit the hot springs here

Later in the afternoon, we will be taking the train back to Ollantaytambo where we will be meeting our driver for our transfer to Cusco city.

We will be transferring you to your hotel in the heart of Inca city.

Day 9Cusco City Tour: Explore the capital of the ancient Incans

After breakfast at your hotel, you will have some free time to explore the city on your own. Later in the afternoon, we will be picking you up from your hotel for a detailed Cusco City Tour.

On this guided tour of Cusco City, we will be visiting the prominent landmarks of Cusco. We will start with a visit to Qorikancha, the Incas temple of the sun which was demolished on Spanish conquest and the church of Santo Domingo was built on its remains.

We will then drive you up the hill to Sacsayhuaman. This is a notable Inca site in Cusco. The fortress has walls perfectly cut to join them without using cements.

After witnessing this, we will be driving further off the city to Q’enqo. This is the remains of an Inca ceremonial site. The Incas used this place to do their offerings and for mummification of corpses.

We will then drive you to Tambomachay. This is the remains of an Inca spa which was reserved to the elite families. The ducts here were built during the Inca rule and they still carry water from the nearby lake.

After getting an insight into the Inca architecture here, we will be visiting Puca Pucara. The name in Quechua means Red Rock. It is named after the color it bears at dusk.

After visiting these prime Inca sites, we will be driving you back to Cusco City and will transfer you to your hotel.

Day 10Cusco Airport Transfer

After your breakfast at the hotel, we will be transferring you to Cusco Airport for your flight back to Lima.
