Upon your arrival in Lima, you will be greeted at the airport by our Qosqo Expeditions tour guide. From the airport, your transport will be included. It’s about a 45-minute drive to downtown Lima. You will be staying at a Belmont hotel in Miraflores.
Your first full day in Peru will be filled by discovering the ancient history of Lima. You will visit the Gold Museum of Lima where you will see the most impressive golden pieces of the ancient Peruvian cultures. After a visit to the museum, we will have lunch at the Larco Museum and enjoy the Limanian gastronomy.
After lunch, you will get the chance to tour the largest private pottery collection in South America at Larco Museum. We head back to the hotel in the late afternoon. You can get dinner at the hotel, or somewhere else. Whatever you want! We will stay another night at the same hotel.
In the morning you will head to the airport to catch a flight from Lima to Cusco. The flight is only one hour. Once you have arrived in Cusco, you will be greeted by another guide from our agency. We will greet you, then head to the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
After about a 30 minute drive we will arrive at Awanakancha. Here, you will make a pit stop to learn about the local textile weaving, and see the collection of South American Camels. You will have the opportunity to use the restroom. Then, we will continue with your welcome lunch at the Hacienda Sara Pampa. Prepare for the most delightful atmosphere while you enjoy your traditional lunch. After lunch, we will visit the colorful Pisac Market. In the late afternoon, we will head to the hotel Sol y Luna or Rio Sagrado Belmont Hotel. Dinner will be at your leisure.
You will start day four by discovering the Heart of the Sacred Valley. You will visit the Ollantaytambo Living Museum Archeological site and get to explore the unique little pueblo (town).
Later you will head to the Salt Mines of Maras and see the impressive Salt farming. Close to Maras is Moray. You will also get to see the circular ruins located in Moray. Moray served as the ancient agricultural Lab of the Incas.
Lunch will be served at Hacienda Orihuela. This restaurant is nestled in the mountains and offers delicious local cuisine and a private Museum. After lunch, you will head back to the hotel and have dinner at your leisure.
It’s finally time to visit the famous Machu Picchu. You will be going to Machu Picchu on board the Hiram Bingham Luxury Train. You will take the train to get a train that lasts for about 3 hours. The train has a bar, music show and lunch will be provided onboard.
Upon your arrival to Aguas Calientes, you will make your way to Machu Picchu for your overnight stay at hotel Belmont Sanctuary Lodge or Inkaterra Pueblo hotel.
Today is the day! You will get up early so we can be some of the first people to enter the Machu Picchu Sanctuary.
Once you enter the Machu Picchu ruins, you will get to explore the “photography sites”. If you are feeling adventurous, you can hike up to the sun gate and see an even more beautiful view of the ruins. After your unforgettable tour of the most famous Incan ruins, you will make your way back to the hotel. From the hotel, you take the bus down to the Aguas Calientes Pueblo.
You will take the vista dome train around midday to Ollantaytambo. Once you have arrived there, you will have private transport waiting to take you back to Cusco where you will stay overnight at Monastery Belmont hotel or Inkaterra colonial hotel stay.
Enjoy the capital of the ancient Incas by exploring the Cusco. You will have a city tour with our local expert and visit the most important landmarks throughout Cusco. You will see temples and religious archeological sites. And end the tour in the afternoon with lunch at your leisure. In the evening you will be able to walk around the center ( downtown) area at your leisure.
Your guide will arrive at your hotel depending on what time your flight leaves for Lima. Once you are back in Lima, you will be greeted and then taken to meet with a professional Peruvian chef. During this experience, you will get to learn more about local produce and participate in a cooking class. Now, when you get back home you can cook a Peruvian meal for all of your friends. You will also get to make a pisco sour!
Your tour comes to an end on Day 8 and we will provide transport to the airport if you have an international flight.
