Effective January 26, all airline passengers to the United States aged two years and older must provide a negative COVID-19 viral test taken within three calendar days of travel. Alternatively, travelers to the U.S. may provide documentation from a licensed health care provider of having recovered from COVID-19 in the 90 days preceding travel.  Check the CDC website for additional information www.cdc.gov

Country-Specific Information and Covid 19 – peru test 
  • On February 19, 2021, the Government of Peru extended the COVID-19 health emergency for another 180 days, from March 7 to September 2, 2021.
  • Due to increased levels of COVID-19, the Arequipa Region will be under strict lockdown for 15 days beginning on Monday June 21, 2021.  U.S. citizens are advised to review their travel plans accordingly.
  • All air and land transportation in and out of the Arequipa Department will be suspended for a period of 15 days. During this suspension, inter-province travel within the Arequipa Department is prohibited. The use of private vehicles in the Arequipa Department is also prohibited.
  • The Government of Peru announced the extension of the current regional alert levels and movement restrictions through July 11, 2021.  The Government of Peru indicates it will reevaluate and adjust these public health measures every three weeks.  Under these measures, all regions of Peru are categorized as High, Very High, or Extreme, with corresponding levels of restrictions.  ​U.S. Citizens are advised to follow all Peruvian lockdown measures.
  • Currently, in Lima and other areas of “High Alert”, curfew is from 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m, Monday through Sunday.  In areas of Peru in “Extreme Alert”, business must close no later than three hours before the local curfew.  In areas of Peru in Moderate, High, or Very High alert, businesses must close no later than two hours before the local curfew.

  • If so, are test results reliably available within 72 hours? Yes
  • Peru is able to test for COVID-19 in the country. Private hospitals and laboratories as well as the Peruvian Ministry of Health (MINSA) are administering tests.
  • The Peruvian Health Ministry (MINSA) maintains a list of facilities that provide COVID-19 testing
  • Viral testing results at certain locations would be available within 72 hours of a flight departure. Keep in mind that a surge in cases may increase demand and affect these result times.
