The ancient Nazca culture dominated this desert region of Peru from around 100 BC to 750 AD. They left behind a wealth of symbols and artifacts that give us incredible insight into their civilization. The Nazca region is most well-known for its series of ancient geoglyphs or “Nazca lines” hidden within the desert. This has been designated as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is believed to have been created by the Nazca culture between about 500 BC and 500 AD.
These geoglyphs depict geometric shapes as well as symbols of nature, including animals and plants. These mysterious symbols were first documented by American scientist Paul Kosok in 1939. Their meaning continues to mystify current-day experts. The Nazca desert is one of the driest on Earth, and the lack of wind has helped keep the lines uncovered and visible to the present day. The ancient Nazca people also left behind a series of extensive, underground aqueducts which are still functioning today.

To get the best views of the geoglyphs, the plane will be making sharp and frequent turns and movements. If you’re prone to motion sickness, we recommend a medication or natural remedy to help combat the effects.
Board an awesome Cessna 206 airplane and take a flight over the Nazca Lines at an altitude of several thousand feet. The flight lasts for 35 minutes, and you’ll have time to see all of the major geoglyphs including the monkey, spaceman, condor and whale. Onboard our classic Nazca Lines flights, every passenger will have a window, and the flight will be preceded by a short lecture and appropriate safety instructions.
You will be picked up at your hotel or at the bus terminal in Nazca, then driven to the local Nazca airport. A brief introductory video will discuss the theories behind the creation of the Nazca Lines. Once we board our flight, you’ll witness these famous geoglyphs with your own eyes on the desert floor below. At the end of your flight, you’ll be transported back to your hotel or bus terminal in Nazca.
