Day 2Flight to Cusco

Today, you’ll head right back to the Lima airport for your hour-long flight to Cusco. Upon arriving to the “Imperial City of the Incas”, you’ll be greeted by your guide and taken by private car to your hotel. After checking in and a quick orientation of Cusco, you’ll be free to enjoy the city at your leisure, and we always offer our personal recommendations!

Day 3Cusco Exploration and Sacsayhuaman

This morning, you’ll meet your guide at the hotel and head up to the highest reaches of the city, where you’ll explore the most impressive archeological and historically significant places in Cusco such as Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo and Tambomachay. Afterwards, you’ll enjoy a box lunch picnic at the “Temple of the Moon”.

Day 4More Cusco Exploration

This morning, you and your guide will head to the bustling local market of San Pedro. With a limited amount of local currency (soles), you’ll try your hand at bargaining for fruits and other supplies for our picnic lunch later that day. After our shopping adventure, we’ll head to the Qorikancha “sun temple” before leaving downtown and heading to southern Cusco to visit Tipon, where ancient engineers and masons worked on hydraulic water systems. We’ll enjoy a picnic lunch with our goodies from the market and continue to Pikillaqta, where the pre-Inca Wari civilization built impressive structures. After some time for exploration, we’ll head back to Cusco for dinner at Limo, located in the Plaza de Armas in the heart of Cusco.

Day 5Cusco to Sacred Valley and Pisac

Today, we leave the city and head to the breathtakingly beautiful Sacred Valley of the Incas. After a 45-minute scenic drive, we’ll arrive to the Pisac archeological site for more exploration. From there, we’ll hike down to the mystical town of Pisac to explore its colorful market and silversmith shops. We’ll take some time to enjoy a picnic before we head to Inkary Museum. You’ll have the afternoon free to enjoy at your leisure.

Day 6Chinchero, Maras and Circular Terraces of Moray

We’ll begin today’s explorations by heading to the community of Chinchero and a nearby archeological site to explore and search for clues to the lost history of the Incas. At midday, we’ll drive to Moray, an agricultural experimental site, and learn how the Incas kept stability in the kingdom, after which we’ll have a delicious lunch consisting of traditional food tasting and samples of unique dishes sourced from crops grown by local famers. We’ll continue to Maras town where we’ll have the opportunity to visit a local hat maker, then head to a colonial house where a family will welcome us into their home. Afterwards, we’ll head to the Maras salt mines and enjoy a scenic hike back down to the valley.
