What’s the Willcamayu River Like?
The Willcamayu River (sacred river) is an easy to moderate intensity Class 3 rafting river and is a great way for everyone from ages 8 to 100 to experience the fun of whitewater rafting. Perfect for families and friends, corporate groups, scout groups and school groups to nervous first timers, a Wilcamayu rafting adventure has the ability to bring out huge smiles on of all your faces. Enjoy the relaxation of floating down a river with moments of sheer excitement as you paddle through fun filled rapids.
We offer 3 different rafting experiences for Wilcamayu River rafting ranging from a half day to multi day trips covering between 8 to 16 miles. You can also combine any one of our Wilcamayu rafting experiences with an Apurimac rafting trip for a truly exhilarating and unforgettable multi-day rafting adventure.
When to go Rafting on the Willcamayu River?
The season for rafting the Wilcamayu River it is year around. We are able to raft year around however, the water level is typically slightly higher during the rain season. Rain season rafting on the Wilcamyu River is a fantastic experience for those looking for a slightly more exciting run!
Where is the Willcamayu River Located?
The Willcamayu River is located in the town of Chukicahuana, just a short drive South of Cusco or North of Puno. It is an easy 2 hour drive from the Cusco depending on traffic.

Photos are taken beginning with the safety briefing and continue until the end of your trip, and will also be available for purchase at the end of your trip.
We will pick you up at 8:30 am in the morning from your hotel in Cusco.
Our tour bus will take us about 2 hours south of Cusco on the Cusco-Puno road to the town of Chukicahuana.
All the rafting equipment such as helmet, PFD, neo-prene wetsuit, and waterproof jacket will be provided when we arrive at the put-in for the river.
The guides will also provide all the necessary safety information before we begin the 2 hour rafting tour.
The rapids in this section are Class III and III+ and there will be a safety kayaker joining us on the trip. At the end of the rafting trip there will be a delicious lunch (we offer vegetarian options). We will arrive back to Cusco at approximately 4:30 pm.
